This letter was not chosen for publication, despite it's cross party interest.

Hopefully the other "non Labour" parties in Wakefield District will share this writers dissatisfaction?

      Monday 11th. March 2019

      Dear Sir or Madam,

"The Citizen", a WMDC psuedo newspaper

This publication landed today. The 20 full colour pages tell us all the "good things" that our Council are doing for us, starting with an article from Leader Peter Box.

I'm a Liberal Democrat party member but I'm writing this as on my own initiative without reference to anyone else because I'm hopping mad about this very expensive exercise that's plainly putting all the local opposing parties at a huge disadvantage in the coming local elections - what super timing for WMDC's "annual publication"!

Let's estimate the cost, say 12p. per copy to print? 10p. Per copy to deliver? £80,000.00 to assemble copy, typsetting and distribute to c.240,000 households? In my book that makes £132,000.00 (if correct) of ratepayers money spent on a "newspaper" in praise of the incumbent party. This should help cement their dominant position.

If my sums are incorrect can we please be told the correct cost?

      Yours Faithfully,

      John Clayton,
